Writing Connections began as a dream, a hope, and a wish. In other words, it began with a lot of uncertainty. After being in business for over two and a half years, we wish we could say that things are not so uncertain anymore, that our path is straight and predictable. But after this year of instability in our world with shifting economies, changing technologies, and evolving workplaces, uncertainty seems to be the way it is. Nevertheless, gratitude is a part of everything we do. Gratitude for our clients, the lessons we have learned, and the continued opportunities is abundant.
How We Started
Someone believed in us. That’s how Writing Connections began. One contact. One referral. One project. When we started Writing Connections, our mission was to connect complex concepts to comprehension by making them understandable and repeatable for the users who depend on them. We knew that information has power when people can actually use it.
Once we completed those first projects, people began to hear about our work—the clear SOP that made a process easy to complete and the training video that not only changed the way people tracked their hours but also improved the financial accuracy of related reports. Users and collaborators spoke for us, explaining how our quality documents and training saved money for the departments and time for their users.
How We Continue
Today, Writing Connections continues in much the same spirit as we started, focusing on building relationships, whether with an existing client, a potential new client, or someone we met while networking. Collaboration and connections make our business and our community stronger, creating a trust that encourages open communication and lasting partnerships.
What We’ve Learned
Over these last few years, we have learned some lessons about balance, connection, and purpose. Here are a few of our takeaways:
Take it one day at a time. Life and work can come at you fast; focusing on what you can do each day helps keep things manageable. Steady progress toward a goal often matters more than perfection or speed because consistency builds confidence and momentum over time.
Help others. If you have answers, give them. If you can guide someone, show the way. Knowledge means little if it isn’t shared. Sharing what you know helps your colleagues, peers, and clients as it also helps the entire community, not just one person.
Participate in your community. Being a part of your community provides you with a sense of belonging and helps everyone. Attend events, supporting local organization, and volunteering when you can all contribute to a stronger, shared community. Showing up consistently matters.
These lessons keep guiding our decisions, reminding us that success is not just about the bottom line. It is also about alignment with our purpose, the quality of our relationships, and the impact of our work on real people.
Who We Thank
We are so thankful to those that have supported and guided us along the way. We would be remiss not to mention our mentor and friend, Beth Mathis, for all of her words of wisdom.
